Farm Mountain Coffee collaborates with 96 coffee farmers on Mount Elgon in Uganda.
The farmers are given premium prize for their coffee up to three times as much as if the farmers were selling their coffee to bulk buyers.
In return, the farmers grow some of the best coffee available, classified as 1st cru coffee beans.
Farm Mountain Coffee has a high level of engagement with the farmers and is constantly working with them to improve farming systems and re-establish the rainforest by planting shadow giving trees.
The trees are beneficial to coffee growing and are at the same time preventing mudslides as a result of deforestation.
The motivation was given by the Danish Minister for Development, Christian Friis Bach and handed over by head of the access2innovation secretariat, Jacob Ravn.
